About the role

BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world’s leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company’s operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.

The South Flank Project is an expansion of BHP's existing Mining Area C hub, located approximately 130 km by road north-west of the town of Newman. This project has potential to become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centres in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore. Embracing inclusion and diversity to create a vibrant culture that represents the communities in which we live, South Flank is focused on high performance, flexible work arrangements, strong Indigenous participation and gender balance.
This is a rare opportunity for a dynamic individual to be part of something big – to work in an innovative team, with evolving technology, and playing a pivotal role in creating a world class mine.

Working in a dynamic environment, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking and talented individual to take on the key role of Principal Operation Readiness – Fixed Plant Maintenance.  Liaising closely with site operations and functions, you will be responsible for applying process plant maintenance expertise, delivering a safe and reliable site.

Reporting to Manager Operational Readiness, you will work closely with the Fixed Plant Maintenance team to apply your maintenance expertise into South Flank and develop Operational Readiness strategies into detailed deliverables.   Your key areas of work will include translation of the shutdown strategy into detailed plans that meet the requirements of multiple stakeholders, and work with the specialists and line area personnel to develop and embed standardised work for routine shutdown activities.  You will continue to provide inputs into the design of process plant to ensure that operations requirements are satisfied, with a view to achieving benchmark safety and productivity outcomes once operational.  Given our focus on workforce diversity, you will work with line and functional stakeholders to enable diversity through considered design, purchase of appropriate tooling and development of appropriate procedures.

About You:

If you are an outcome focused, energetic person who is passionate about safety and have the ability to build great relationships, then you will be an ideal candidate to be part of our team.
To be successful in this role you preferably have a Tertiary qualification in an Engineering discipline along with an understanding of standardised work practices.  With significant maintenance experience, you will bring a high level of technical proficiency across a broad range of areas and demonstrated risk management acumen.

Experience in shut down planning and execution, as well as lean or manufacturing practices would be advantageous.

A performance and achievement orientated professional, your technical strengths will be complemented by excellent relationship management skills enabling you to influence and lead successful change in a challenging and complex environment. Energetic and driven, with a strong understanding of safe operations and safe behaviour fundamentals, you will bring high attention to detail and ability to consistently meet multiple deadlines.

BHP values diversity in experience and your career history will testify to your ability to foster collaboration as well as demonstrate sound judgement. Your ability to manage multiple levels of complexity and ambiguity are essential for success in this role.

This is an exciting opportunity to have a real business impact and deliver a step change in maintenance execution.
