Macmahon is a leading Australian company delivering a comprehensive range of surface mining, underground mining and engineering services to the resources sector throughout Australia and South East Asia.

We are seeking an experienced Injury Management Coordinator to join the Corporate team at our Perth Head Office. As part of the health and safety team, your role will focus on the facilitation of sound Injury Management practices across multiple mine sites throughout Australia. You will be required to review pre-employment medicals as part of the recruitment process, monitor the injury management practices at a site level and provide education and guidance as required. You will manage all Workers Compensation claims and liaise with Insurers and other key stakeholders regularly to ensure best claim and injury management outcomes are achieved.

Skills & Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Registered Nursing, or similar
• Minimum 5 years injury management and workers compensation experience preferably within the Mining Industry
• Knowledge of workers compensation legislation across multiple jurisdictions
• Previous experience in classifying Injuries as part of the monthly reporting process
• Previous experience in reviewing medicals as part of the recruitment and pre-employment medical process
• High attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills across all levels of an organisation
• Current C Class drivers licence
• Current National Police Certificate

Role and Responsibilities

• Communicate, monitor and review the companies injury management and workers compensation performance
• Review pre-employment medicals
• Provide guidance to sites regarding the classification of injuries in line with the medical evidence provided and the investigations performed at a site level
• Liaise with key stakeholders which includes treating practitioners, external rehabilitation providers, Insurers, Management, Site HSEQ and injured workers on a regular basis
• Develop and monitor the provision of Return to Work Plans in line with the medical guidance
• Implement pro-active intervention strategies to set and achieve individual rehabilitation goals
• Provide advice and support to Managers and Supervisors on appropriate people management strategies and responsibilities in incident and injury management processes
• Prepare and attend all claims review meetings
• Assist sites with the coordination of medical reviews for injured workers
• Attend medical appointments as required with injured Workers
• Submit new workers compensation and income protection claims
• Manage all workers compensation claims
• Assist with claim investigation as required
• Claim wage reimbursements from the Insurer for all Workers receiving entitlements
• Maintain the injury management database (Injury Connect)
• Provide training and guidance on the use of Injury Connect
• Promote sound workplace rehabilitation processes
