Our client is currently looking to recruit an exceptional General Manager - Mining for their growing business, which focusses mainly on surface mining. The role will report directly to the Board and have full day to day control of the business. The key prerequisite for the position is that the candidate must come from a Contractor background. The client is a growing player in the Western Australian market with some excellent contracts and positive reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all the day to day operations of the business covering safety & operational performance, commercial management & compliance, business development, budgeting and profitability.
- Oversee the day to day site teams but also manage the head office functions to deliver an effective and high performing culture.
- Be focussed on delivering and exceeding client expectations.
- Stimulate a culture of continuous improvement where the business will challenge itself in all areas and you will lead this change.
- Drive the business towards a Zero Safety Culture. Already the business has a very strong focus on Safety but new ideas and approach are required to drive the culture further.
- Be a focal point for Local Communities to engage with during operations.
Experience & Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining with all least 5 years’ experience gained as a senior professional from a Contractor background.
- Have a positive Leadership style which can inspire and develop the team to achieve the desired results.
- Be able to demonstrate a successful track record of delivering safety and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven track record of financial management and developing business from a Contractor background and focus.
