Boart Longyear is the world’s leading provider of drilling equipment and performance tooling for mining and drilling companies globally. Our range of highly productive drill rigs and performance tooling is suited to a variety of applications including, mining, mineral exploration,energy, environmental sampling and remediation, as well as infrastructure reinforcement and development.

As part of our Geological Data Services (GDS) team, this role is a key technical resource in rolling out, running and supporting our Driller deployable survey, geochemical and geophysical digital equipment. 

Tools include Boart Longyear’s new Truscan logging trailer that can be deployed in the drilling work flow or core storage facility. This position operates the Truscan and other GDS tools, often with either Boart Longyear or third party customers. This position will also support any new Boart Longyear tools that will require end user training and support.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Development Integration, key role responsibilities include:

  • Understand how to operate and trouble shoot our driller deployable electronic equipment
  • Operation and training in the use of survey, geochemical and geophysical analytical equipment in a field environment
  • Operate tools safely and in compliance with EHS policies
  • Training of drill crews and client field technicians to safely and efficiently operate our field deployable analytical technologies
  • Contributing and supporting training documentation creation
  • Basic trouble shooting of technical and practical use issues tied to analytical equipment
  • Provide reports and feedback on trouble shooting issues and cases

Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience include:

  • Field experience working on a drill rig or mining exploration
  • Interest in digital technologies and new innovations
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understanding of working safely
  • Experience with core handling and logging
  • Basic electrical and mechanical skills

This role will often require working rosters that align with end user requirements and is suited to a driller or off sider with drill rig or mine site experience as the tools are part of existing work flows.
