SIMEC Mining, a wholly owned subsidiary of GFG Alliance has operations in Whyalla, South Australia and Tahmoor, New South Wales. Our commodity portfolio consists of mining and mineral processing plants from pit to port. Tahmoor Colliery is an underground longwall coal mine with an associated coal preparation plant producing high quality coking coal for global markets. Tahmoor Colliery has been in operation since 1979 and has a total workforce of approximately 350 personnel. Tahmoor Colliery is located near the scenic Southern Highlands of NSW, and only a short 45-minute drive to the idyllic beaches of the South Coast NSW.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced CHPP Electrical Coordinator to join our Tahmoor Coal Handling Preparation Plant (CHPP) team. In this role, you will report to the CHPP Manager and play a key role to the overall success of the department.

You will be accountable for the following:

  • The development and review of effective short and long term electrical maintenance planning and scheduling processes, as part of your input to Asset Management strategies;
  • The implementation of all maintenance scheduling techniques by utilising the SAP system. You will be expected to take ownership of the SAP system for the plant;
  • Provide support to the Supervisors to execute the daily and weekly planning processes.
  • You will assist the Manager and Maintenance teams with budgeting, forecasting and preparing costs reports;
  • You will work as part of a team to continually implement business development opportunities for the CHPP department and mitigate identified risks.

The successful candidate will possess qualifications in Electrical Engineering, and/or an Electrical Trade qualification. You will ideally have 3+years’ experience in an industrial background, along with prior exposure in a supervisory role. You will be skilled in electrical control mechanisms, maintenance task estimation, and asset management strategies. It would be advantageous to be experienced in the SAP system. Your essential attributes will include intermediate to advanced computer skills, organisation skills, punctuality, safety consciousness, attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a high pressured environment.
