About the role

ING’s Energy Sector team is a global platform which provides financial solutions to the leading players in the energy sector from its regional hubs in Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Brussels, New York, Houston, Sydney and Singapore. Due to the expansion of the Energy team in Australia we are looking to hire an Associate for our Sydney office. The Energy team in Sydney covers the sub-sectors Oil & Gas (upstream, midstream and downstream), and Power, Utilities & Renewables.

The key focus of the team is to increase and deepen the strategic dialogue with our clients base in Australia and originate high value mandates across the Bank’s product offering (including project/structured finance, debt capital markets and financial markets).

You will report into the Head of Energy who is an international energy expert whilst also having direct exposure to the executive leader of ING’s wholesale bank. Based in an expanding team of 4 you will quickly be given the opportunity to grow and develop by taking ownership of parts of the different transactions in our existing and extensive pipeline.

Main responsibilities

Working in a dynamic deal team environment your key responsibilities are:

  • Preparing complex financial models;
  • Doing industry and peer group analysis;
  • Preparing presentations and pitch books regarding Energy financing solutions;
  • Assisting in credit analyses and writing of credit applications including credit reviews;
  • Assisting and analysing due diligence information and review transaction documentation;
  • Contributing and supporting the execution of transaction (financing) processes; and
  • Maintaining active contacts with other departments/disciplines, such as, Global and Regional management, Risk Management, Financial Markets, Syndicated Finance, Corporate Finance and Debt Capital Markets.
About you

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Must have 3+ years’ experience in Wholesale banking
  • Analysts looking for a step up should apply
  • Oil, gas or renewable energy experience is advantageous
  • Proven track record of complex financial modelling experience
  • Degree educated in a relevant field.
  • A passion for clean, renewable energy
  • Superior communication skills
  • Awareness of current industry trends
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
