Residential Role

Shark Bay Resources (SBR) operates a solar salt field at Useless Loop, exporting high quality salt to various overseas markets. The solar salt operation is located in the remote Shark Bay World Heritage Area and occupies a position ideally suited to people looking for a combination of an interesting job and a relaxing lifestyle including excellent fishing and camping. This community has a small shop, fuel, library, fortnightly Doctors’ visits, an on-site nurse with a modern and well-equipped Surgery and weekly freight deliveries. There is an excellent schooling facility catering to year 6.

THE POSITION

The position reports to the Process Supervisor and will be required to monitor and maintain brine levels and flows across the salt field, whilst actively managing brine supply and quality.

DUTIES

Duties will include but are not be limited to:

  • Manage brine control.
  • Record and report on brine and salt quality & quantity.
  • Undertake routine sample collection/ preparation/ analysis of brine, salt and laboratory process samples.
  • Undertake instrument maintenance and calibration.
  • Monitor and maintain weather station and collected data.
  • Monitor and routinely inspect various pumps, culverts and channels.
  • Operate and maintain culvert control structures.
  • Ensure survey monitoring of crystallisers and stockpile is achieved

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current WA “C” class manual licence.  HR highly regarded.
  • Excellent knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Experience in similar role within a remote location.
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening, obtain a National Police Clearance and be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card.
