Minjar Gold Pty Ltd is an Australian Gold explorer, developer and producer who has been operating since 2009 and is focused on gold exploration and production in both Western Australia and Queensland. Due to exciting growth in our Western Australian operation, we are seeking to recruit a Electrical Supervisor for our gold mine project located in the Gascoyne region of WA.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager this role is responsible for the optimisation of the performance, availability and safety of fixed plant, by liaising with the process team, maintenance planners and superintendent to prioritise electrical maintenance activities including high voltage and instrumentation work and supervise a team of HV electricians to achieve maintenance targets and ensure statutory compliance and production continuity.

To be successful in the role you will possess the following skills, qualifications & personal attributes:

 

  • Electrical Trade Certificate
  • Frontline Management Qualifications
  • Current Electrical Licence
  • High Voltage Switching Qualification
  • Experienced in PLC application, programming and operations – Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawing and fault-finding control circuits
  • Ability to mentor and lead a team of HV Electricians
  • 7-10 years’ experience in the electrical field including a minimum of 3-5 years’ working on processing plants with preventative maintenance programs and systems
  • 3-5+ years’ working in a supervisory capacity, preferably on Mine Sites, with exposure to maintenance planning
  • Experience working in accordance with AS3007 and electrical wiring rules
  • Hazard identification, risk assessment and incident investigation experience
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office and competent with maintenance planning and work orders utilising software such as Pronto
  • Proficient with managing small and large fixed plant shut downs
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to drive a positive safety culture
  • Self-motivated, well organised and able to manage own work, and that of the team, to achieve agreed outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use initiative and provide guidance to the team in reaching appropriate solutions
  • Ability to provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to the team

 

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Accept statutory appointment as an Electrical Supervisor and ensure compliance with associated statutory responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the electrical maintenance activities primarily of the process plant and services, including camp and offices, ensuring productive and quality work outputs
  • Supervise and coordinate regular inspections of electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair
  • Supervise critical HV and LV electrical maintenance tasks ensuring the work is completed safely and on time
  • Assist, guide and mentor the team as required and provide hands on assistance as required
  • Liaise closely with the maintenance superintendent, and process team to prioritise electrical maintenance activities to reduce impact on production
  • Assist in work planning, scheduling and resource allocation with a focus on the weekly electrical maintenance plan
  • Understand the monthly process forecast and communicate plant targets with the maintenance team
  • Ensure employees receive adequate training and instruction to perform their work
  • Practice effective cost management and identify cost minimisation strategies
  • Assist the superintendent in the day to day running of the site maintenance requirements
  • Actively seek to identify areas for continuous improvement initiatives that could have cost and/or production benefits
  • Ensure accurate input of daily maintenance statistics into the process plant reporting system to track downtime and safety
  • Ensure all work carried out has been recorded and all parts have been booked out correctly
  • Ensure Safe Systems of Work at all times
  • Discharge of obligations under Section 44 of the WA Mines Safety & Inspections Act
  • Compliance with WA Mines Safety and Inspections Act and Regulations and Duty of Care
