Doray Minerals Ltd (ASX:DRM) is an Australian Gold Producer.
The Deflector Gold Copper Project is located in the southern Murchison region of WA, 450km north of Perth and 160km east of Geraldton. First gold production from Deflector occurred in May 2016.
Deflector is a shallow, narrow vein, high-grade underground mine. The ore is located in three separate lodes being the West, Central and Contact lodes, and is open at depth for extensions. A purpose built processing facility was constructed to enable the recovery of gold in bullion and the production of a gold/copper concentrate via flotation methods.
Recent exploration has been successful in identifying a potential new discovery north of the current Deflector mining operation. The Da Vinci prospect’s mineralisation characteristics are similar to the Deflector Western Lode, and work is ongoing to delineate this potential new ore source to add to the mining plans at Deflector.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and driven Mine Production Geologist to be part of the Deflector team and make a significant contribution to our continued success. Reporting to the Mine Geologist, this role will be responsible for the underground grade control function of the deposit to optimise ore extraction, as well as assist in the planning and implementation of drill programmes and modelling.
Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Day to day grade control operations;
- Mapping and sampling;
- Monitoring of grade control drilling programmes;
- Providing daily, weekly and monthly grade control reports on mine geology, grade drivers and ore reconciliation;
- Working as part of the Geology and Mining team to communicate geological, geotechnical and grade data to mining, management and contractor personnel to achieve production targets; and
- Ensuring that planning maximises recovery and minimises ore loss and dilution.
About You
You are a high calibre Geologist who has an inquisitive mind and drive to continue to grow and develop professionally. Your exceptional problem solving skills, coupled with your tenacity and calmness under pressure, will see you excel in this role.
This will be supported by the following qualifications, experience and characteristics:
- Tertiary qualifications in Geology, with 1+ years post graduate experience (underground experience essential),
- A sound understanding of underground grade control processes, including diamond drilling;
- Proficiency using Surpac;
- A methodical approach to data management and validation processes; and
- Gold experience highly regarded.
You will have the opportunity to work in an interesting and diverse role on a FIFO 8:6, 7:7 continuous roster cycle from Perth, or DIDO from Geraldton/surrounding areas. To meet project demands, you will be required to work both day and night shifts in this role, alternating each swing. You will be working with a talented and committed technical services team, who will mentor you to excel in your role.
