Bluestone Mines Tasmania Joint Venture Pty Ltd is Australia’s largest Tin producer and represents a partnership between Metals X Ltd and the largest tin producer in the world, Yunnan Tin Group.

Renison Mine Site is located on the picturesque west coast of Tasmania, centrally located to nearby towns of Zeehan and Strahan, and within 1-2 hours driving distance of major city centres Burnie and Devonport. The West Coast region being a world class heritage area offers magnificent natural wonders and recreational activities such as Cradle Mountain National Park and the pristine environment of the Gordon River.

The Renison Processing Plant consists of a diverse range of processing stages, including a soon to be commissioned new crushing, screening and ore sorting plant, rod and ball mill grinding, sulphide and oxide flotation, state-of-the-art gravity concentration processes, and concentrate leaching. A feasibility study into tailings retreatment via mineral processing and pyrometallurgical treatment is also currently underway.

We are currently seeking a metallurgy professional to join the processing department technical team, to actively contribute to optimising metallurgical and production performance in one of Australia’s most complex and diverse concentrators.

Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, key responsibilities include:

  • Control of day to day metallurgical performance of the plant;
  • Design and undertaking of metallurgical surveys, test-work and technical report writing;
  • Involvement in plant improvement project design, justification, installation and commissioning;
  • All routine metallurgical functions associated with the plant, including metallurgical accounting and reporting;
  • Liaison with maintenance personnel to optimise processing equipment performance;

To be successful in this role you will require tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering and a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience. Exposure to gravity and flotation processes would be advantageous.
