About the role
We are currently seeking applications for an experienced CHPP Superintendent to join the team at our North Goonyella Coal (NGC) Mine. NGC is an underground longwall mine located 160 kilometers west of Mackay producing a premium quality, high strength coking coal for export markets.

Reporting to the CHPP Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring key CHPP metrics, including the delivery of feed tonnes, yield, product specification and the train loading schedule are met in a timely and safe manner.

Duties will include:

  • Lead and mentor the CHPP team to ensure targets are met in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ensuring high compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements and all Peabody and North Goonyella site policies and procedures
  • Implement and drive site continuous improvement initiatives
  • Providing leadership and guidance to the team of CHPP Supervisors and Operators
  • Liaise with Mine and Technical Services personnel with regards to schedule for coal processing activities
  • Carry out regular site inspections to ensure safety standards are maintained
  • Ensuring plant operational budget KPI’s are met and maintained with variation from targets justified and reported.
  • Work closely with the marketing, sales and logistics teams to ensure railing and shipment schedules are achieved on time and on spec.
  • Provide quality control of product coal stockpiles for blending requirements to meet customer specifications
  • Review of daily and monthly performance
  • Establish a pipeline of project work to continually improve and optimise CHPP performance
  • Provide regular reconciliations of plant performance and product stockpiles

The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a Monday to Friday (9 day fortnight) roster and can allow for a residential, DIDO or FIFO lifestyle.

About You:
To be successful in this role, it is imperative for you to have extensive underground coal mining experience and will ideally possess the following:

  • Extensive processing experience and previous experience in a similar role
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A sound working knowledge of SAP
  • S1, S2, S3 and G2 qualifications
  • Uncompromising commitment to safety
  • A Positive, Can Do Attitude
