Christmas Island Phosphates (CIP) is a subsidiary of Phosphate Resources Limited. Our phosphate mining operations is located on Christmas Island, 2600km north of Perth. CIP are the major employer on the Island, employing approximately 170 people across its businesses. We have a rich history on Christmas Island and a culturally diverse operation of which we are proud of. Our mature phosphate mining and export operation is governed by relevant Western Australian and Federal legislation, including the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act.
We are seeking qualified and experienced Boilermakers to join our Fixed Plant Maintenance Team, which is based on Christmas Island, this is not a FIFO position.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
To provide high quality metal fabrication services as part of ongoing structural maintenance program; and to undertake a variety of general/maintenance tasks or projects either planned or ad hoc; must ensure all works meet CIP and the statutory requirements/compliance with all OHS&E standards.
Selection Criteria:
- Hold an Australian recognized Trade Certificate III In Engineering – Metal Fabrication Trade
- Possess a current “C” class drivers licence.
- Possess Licenses in MR Class Truck, High Risk Work – Dogging, Rigging & Elevated Work Platform; Working at Heights & Confined Space Entry – highly regarded;
- A positive attitude to work and safety; ability to contribute to continuous improvements.
- Perform maintenance of equipment records using PRONTO software – an advantage.
- Good communication (both verbal & written) skills; ability to communicate in other community languages/dialects besides English – an advantage.
