We’re after special women of all ages who are as determined as we are to build successful careers for females in traditionally male-dominated roles. This job could be for you.
Being in the energy industry right at the moment is the opportunity of a lifetime. As Victoria’s biggest energy distributor, we serve our communities by managing the constantly changing energy supply chain safely, reliably and efficiently – not just today, but for tomorrow. It’s a role that matters to millions of Australians. And to do it well, we need a team as diverse and participative as the communities we serve. AusNet Services is committed to making a step change in the representation of women in its technical workforce, including in our field teams.
If that sounds appealing, what’s on offer is a job with great pay and benefits and support to develop your talents and advance your career.
About the job
Our Delivery Team is offering a number of apprenticeship positions to females interested in a physically ‘hands on’ and exciting career within the energy industry.
Over a four year apprenticeship, successful candidates will receive on-the-job experience maintaining the poles and wires that deliver electricity to millions of families and businesses while being mentored by highly experienced line-workers and crew leaders as you work towards obtaining a Certificate III in Electrical Supply Industry – Distribution.
This role is vital within the communities we serve 24/7. Our electricity line teams are on rotational call so we can provide our customers with around the clock emergency response.
If you’re just starting out or after a career change, this job could be for you
We are seeking motivated, confident, energetic females of all ages who are technically minded, into straight-talk, have a can-do attitude and are happy to get their hands dirty and comfortable working outside. If that’s you, you could be part of a team responsible for running safe, reliable and efficient networks for our communities. To be considered, you would have:
- A safety orientated attitude and need to be willing to work at heights
- Successfully completed year 11 maths (or equivalent)
- A manual driver’s license (or willing to obtain one as soon as possible; timing to be discussed)
Maintaining our electrical distribution network requires our people to be physically able to complete tasks in a safe manner. If you are successful in this position, you will be required to complete a police history check and functional medical assessment which includes testing for drugs and alcohol to help us protect your safety and the safety of your future colleagues.
As a part of the selection process, you will be required to complete assessments that will give indications of achieving course requirements. Please note that people selected in the shortlist will be expected to complete both online and in-person testing.
What you will enjoy
Obtaining your qualification in Certificate III in Electrical Supply Industry – Distribution is just the beginning with many of our previous apprentices having moved up into leadership positions and exploring other career progression opportunities.
People in these teams enjoy working and supporting the community, learning while they earn and being able to stay close to their community. You will also enjoy encouraging the next generation of females entering the utility industry.
If you’re up for it, then we would love you to apply and …
Bring your energy
