SIMEC Mining, a wholly owned subsidiary of GFG Alliance has operations in Whyalla, South Australia and Tahmoor, New South Wales. Our commodity portfolio consists of mining and mineral processing plants from pit to port. Tahmoor Colliery is an underground longwall coal mine with an associated coal preparation plant producing high quality coking coal for global markets. Tahmoor Colliery has been in operation since 1979 and has a total workforce of approximately 350 personnel. Tahmoor Colliery is located near the scenic Southern Highlands of NSW, and only a short 45-minute drive to the idyllic beaches of the South Coast NSW.
We are currently seeking experienced Operators to join our underground mine team. Reporting to your shift supervisor, you will be a key member to ensure machinery is operated in a safe, efficient and for purpose manner.
Your duties with involve:
- Operation of heavy mobile equipment including but not limited to: PJB, Coaltram, Eimco, LHD, Forklift, etc;
- Fault diagnostics and hazard identification;
- Maintenance awareness and rectification including routine preventative schedules, and vehicle checks;
- Actively participate in the daily mine plan and to achieve shift targets;
- Promote compliance of company policies and procedures, and place a strong emphasis on safety requirements and general housekeeping;
- Work as part of a team to continually implement business improvement opportunities to achieve the highest levels of machinery utilisation.
The successful candidate will possess multiple operating competencies as per above. You will have 2+years qualified working experience within the Underground Coal Mining industry. You will have a sound understanding of risk management practices and safe work procedures. Your essential attributes will include attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, safety focused, and the ability to work in a high pressured environment.
