Downer Blasting Services is seeking to appoint a dynamic professional in the role of Underground Site Coordinator, based out of our Carrapateena Site.
Under the leadership of the Underground Supervisor, you will be assisting in operational requirements as well as carrying out training / stock management and support to site operational processes.
About the Role:

- To act responsibly and safely, and to adhere to DBS policies, procedures and standards for HSE.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable acts and regulations.
- Actively use and promote the Critical Risk program.
- Assist in controlling the impact of operations on the environment by managing waste and ensuring compliance with the principles contained in DBS’s environmental policy.
TECHNICAL/OPERATIONAL
- Identify and recommend Continuous Improvement projects that have financial benefits for both DBS and our Customer.
- Assist with field trials of new products and services where required.
- Maintain competencies of an experienced Operator or Shotfirer to a Level 3 standard including knowledge of and ability to:
- Operate Allweiler, Napco and Wilden Pumps.
- Operate IT equipment.
- Train operators in the safe and efficient operation of DBS equipment.
- Operate Elevated Work Platform
- Operate UG Emulsion Delivery Systems.
- Explosives management and stock control.
- Manage site administrative and operational tasks.
FINANCIAL/CONTRACT MANAGEMENT
- Assist in the management of site operating expenditure to improve current year’s budget on a cost per tonne basis.
- Assist in the management of site assets to achieve optimal utilisation.
- Comply with maintenance system requirements for all site assets.
- Identify, recommend and implement initiatives to reduce overall business cost.
- Eliminate all forms of waste from site operations.
- Fault finding and basic maintenance on DBS equipment.
PLANNING
- Manage individual compliance to the Training system to ensure 100% compliance is achieved on an ongoing basis.
- Communicate improvements in equipment, procedures, systems and management.
- Ensure compliance with Daily processing requirements.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP
- Maintain the highest standards of presentation and professionalism.
- Ensure OTIF (On Time in Full) delivery of products and services.
- Communicate all information that may have an impact on DBS business either current or future, including operations and any competitor activity.
- Meet committed customer actions by required deadlines.
About you;
- Competent in all Level 3 tasks and competencies.
- Demonstrated compliance with safety, environment, quality (ISO9000), maintenance and training systems.
- SSAN or Dangerous Goods Security Card.
- Underground emulsion experience in Development and Production Blasting.
- Good communication skills.
- Positive attitude.
- Problem solving skills.
- Willingness to take and accept responsibility for all operational issues.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Senior First Aid Certificates - Apply First Aid and CPR.
- OHS Representative.
- Permit to Work.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessing.
- Working at Heights Ticket.
- Load Restraint Training.
- Licence Shotfirer Underground
