About the Role

BHP's new Maintenance Centre of Excellence (MCoE) is the coming together of a dedicated, innovative team focused on identifying, achieving and maintaining the highest standards in maintenance for BHP globally.


As a member of our MCoE team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with other high performers to redefine the way we execute maintenance at our operations around the world. You will help deliver a safe, significant, and sustained improvement in the performance of our equipment and machinery fleet – from 390 tonne haul trucks to underground rail networks to automated ship loaders, and everything in between.  You will utilise innovative approaches, tools and technology to add real value to maintenance – setting new standards to guide improvement activity, transforming services and supporting our people.

These roles will be performed from our Brisbane Maintenance Centre of Excellence, where your diversity of thought and experience will be embraced and you will be empowered to make a real difference to our business. Site visits will be required as part of the role.

We are seeking motivated, highly organised individuals to develop and maintain maintenance plans for Fixed Plant (CHPP), Field Mining Equipment and Mobile Mining Equipment. Reporting to the Superintendent Planning, Scheduling & Asset Health, this role provides clearly structured plans and deliverables for execution teams to follow. This role will carry out planning activities including arranging resource and material requirements, and work with shutdown schedulers and execution teams to ensure optimised work plans are implemented across our maintenance shutdowns.

About You


As an Asset Management Planner, the successful applicant will apply their technical and systems knowledge using shutdown frameworks to ensure shutdowns are planned for with a high level of effectiveness from within our world class Maintenance Centre of Excellence. 


You will require strong process discipline and adherence to systems and frameworks, along with thorough job analysis and planning detail. You will need to apply technical knowledge and understanding of the equipment and maintenance practices to develop fully resourced work plans.

You will be strong with stakeholder engagement, communication, organization and influencing skills with the ability to manage multiple shutdown activities through their life cycle. With a focus on continuous improvement, you will present innovative ideas and be willing to go the extra mile. You will be enthusiastic about service delivery and passionate about delivering extraordinary results.

The following qualifications and skillsets are desirable for success in the role: 

  • Relevant engineering, trade or tertiary education;
  • Experience with Maintenance Outages, Shutdowns or Project Management;
  • Experience with Field Mining Equipment, including but not limited to: Draglines, Electric Shovels, >600T Excavators and/or Drills; Or:
  • Experience with Mobile Mining Equipment, including but not limited to: Bulldozers, Graders, Wheel Loaders, EME Trucks. 
  • Experience with SAP or similar maintenance planning software;
  • Experience with MS Project or similar
