About the Role

Training Superintendent – Nickel West – Northern Operation

• 5 days on 3 days/ 4 days on 2 days off (some flex on offer) or Residential in Leinster

We are seeking a passionate Superintendent to join our newly formed Technical Training team. The objective of this team is to deliver best-class training planning, resourcing and delivery across all Nickel West teams.

Reporting to the Manager Technical Training, the role will support our Northern Operation teams. The team span the three physical locations of Leinster, Mt Keith and Cliffs, and include a diverse set of business processes and services.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to liaise with senior leaders across these teams to coordinate and deliver training activities for our BHP Nickel West workforce and contractors.

This role is offered as either residential in Leinster or fly in fly out. Frequent travel between Leinster and Mt Keith is required as part of this position.

About you

• Experience in a similar role managing a training team or an operational team within site operations
• Proven experience in negotiating, influencing and bringing people together around a common goal in an operational environment
• Resourceful and flexible individual who thrives in a highly dynamic environment
• Ability to develop a path forward in ambiguous situations with minimal guidance
• Skilled in relationship management, teamwork and cross-functional collaboration
• A working knowledge of the intent of the Western Australian Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) Mining Act is desirable.
• Demonstrated understanding of risk management through risk assessments and in-field experience.
• Strong computer and system skills and a high level of attention to detail

Nickel West Leinster

Nickel West Leinster is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.  The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate.  The Leinster Village and Township offer a unique lifestyle with all the modern conveniences – an Olympic size swimming pool, health and fitness centre, race-course and even an 18 hole golf course.  As part of our commitment to health and safety Nickel West Leinster.

Nickel West Cliffs

Nickel West Cliffs is located approximately 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.  Cliffs underground Nickel Mine is an integral part of Nickel West Leinster comprising of a nickel concentrator and dryer, located 12 kilometres south of Nickel West Mt Keith. Employees at Cliffs reside at the Mt Keith village,  some of the amenities at your disposal include internet connection, outdoor swimming pool, health and fitness equipment, indoor cricket, basketball court, BBQ areas plus and arrange of social activities. 

As part of our commitment to health and safety Nickel West Cliffs is a smoke free operation and has a clean shaven policy.

Nickel West Mt Keith

Nickel West Mt Keith is located 460 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in the Northern Goldfields.  Nickel West Mt Keith is a surface mining operation with an open pit and concentrator plant.  The operation is surrounded by pastoral stations, with the nearest townships being Leinster and Wiluna.  There’s plenty to keep you entertained in the Mt Keith Village.  Take the heat off the day and head to the pool – or join in a game of footy.  BBQ dinners are regularly held and other social activities include movie nights.  Employees commute to and from Perth on a fly in / fly out roster or form regional areas on a drive in / drive out roster.
