About the role 

BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world’s leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company’s operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.

The South Flank Project is an expansion of BHP's existing Mining Area C hub, located approximately 130 km by road north-west of the town of Newman. This project has potential to become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centres in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore. Working in a dynamic environment, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking and talented individual to take on the key role of Principal Operation Readiness – Fixed Plant Maintenance.  Liaising closely with site operations and functions, you will be responsible for applying process plant maintenance expertise, delivering a safe and reliable site. 

Reporting to Manager Operational Readiness, you will work closely with Maintenance, Production and Commissioning teams to facilitate a smooth handover of assets from construction to operation.  You will work with the commissioning team to validate the quality of information in Facility Handover notices, ensure operations acceptance of deliverables and facilitate prompt approval of the notices.  

You will also ensure appropriate operations participation in various commissioning teams and facility walk-throughs prior to completions of FHNs.  Your ultimate goal is to enable a fast ramp-up of new processing facilities to meet or exceed the stated production requirements, as well as enabling immediate utilization of new non-process infrastructure for maintenance activities.

To be successful in this role you preferably have a Tertiary qualification in an Engineering discipline along with an understanding of commissioning practices.  Experience in Management of Change processes and transitioning of assets from construction to operations will be advantageous.

Energetic and driven, with a strong understanding of safe operations and safe behaviour fundamentals, you will bring high attention to detail and ability to consistently meet multiple deadlines.
