Role Details
Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking an Alternate Unit Manager: Underground Mining to join their Underground Mining Team at Granny Smith Gold Mine.
Reporting to the Unit Manager: Underground Mining, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all facets of the underground operations to meet all safety, production and cost targets, whilst ensuring that all mining and planning activities support and are driven by the short, medium and long term needs of the mine and fully aligned with the strategic goals and objectives of the business unit, GFA and GFL.
This role is offered on an 8 day on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.
Key responsibilities will include;
- Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times
- Ensure all statutory requirements are met per the WA Mines Act & Regulations;
- Ensure all reporting and actions in relation to safety and environmental incidents is completed within appropriate deadlines;
- Manage and oversee the production and development activities of the mine, taking into consideration the long term requirements of the mine as well as responding to the daily requirements, in order to achieve the budget;
- Monitor development, stoping and mining projects progress against monthly targets;
- Maximise mined recovery and minimise dilution in stoping activities;
- Oversee the mine planning, projects, ventilation, survey and geotechnical requirements of the mine;
- Prepare mine schedules of all mining activities in order to create accurate forecasts and budgets to achieve the mine budget;
- Oversee and provide input to mine technical studies covering the Life of Mine;
- Develop continuous improvement targets and drive and measure achievement of these targets;
- Ensure that the development schedule is matched to the production requirements;
Key factors to your success include;
- Recognised Tertiary Degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Mining)
- WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency in WA
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in an underground mining environment with experience in large scale mechanized, owner operator longhole stoping, and room & pillar mining.
- Minimum of 2 years in a senior/supervisory operational role with proven experience in utilizing your WA First Class Mine Managers Certificate.
- Demonstrated experience in providing leadership, managing training/development, career progression and performance management of personnel.
- Proficiency with mining software (Deswik, Vulcan, EPS, Ventsim)
- Strong technical background with experience in underground mine planning, ventilation, geotechnical, capital justifications, and budgeting.
