About the opportunity


In November 2015, the Northern Territory Government awarded Jemena the right to construct and operate the Northern Gas Pipeline (NGP). The 622km NGP will connect gas fields in the Northern Territory with customers in the Eastern Gas Market. The NGP will run between Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory and Mt Isa in Queensland and is set to commence construction in early 2017.


We have an opportunity available for an experienced Gas Transmission and Process Operations professional to operate and maintain the new asset that will be commissioned in late 2018.  

As part of the maintenance team you will be working on state-of-the-art facilities along with the operations and maintenance of the pipeline and easement.  

This role will be responsible to carry operation maintenance activities to pipelines, facilities and compressor stations, including:


•    Operation and maintenance of high pressure natural gas equipment and gas processing equipment, Responding to incidents and emergencies,
•    Maintenance and calibration of electronic measurement instrument, maintenance of valves and other mechanical equipment,
•    Patrol and maintenance of the pipeline right of way,
•    Liaison work with landholders and public authorities,
•    A wide variety of pipeline duties including mechanical/electrical work, documentation and records maintenance,
•    Inter/intra state travel when required.

What we’re looking for

The successful candidate will have an electrical trade qualification (with instrumentation or equivalent) with proven experience working as a member of an Operations and Maintenance team in the gas transmission or gas processing industry as well as the ability to work independently or within a team environment in remote areas.

You will bring the following qualifications, skills and experience with you:


•    Drivers licence (MR Class desirable),
•    High pressure gas experience,
•    Gas processing experience (preferred only),
•    Instrumentation controls and operations,
•    RTU fault finding and programming experience,
•    Gas Chromatograph operation and maintenance,
•    Electrical hazardous area knowledge,
•    PLC fault finding and programming,
•    Centrifugal compressor operation and maintenance,
•    Personal computing skills utilising Microsoft Office systems.

The selected candidate will have the ability to to learn and develop policies and procedures while being able to consistently meet deadlines. With highly developed written and verbal communication, organisational and decision making skills, candidates will also be analytical, conceptual and have strong problem solving skills as well as the ability to learn and adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
