Northern Star Resources Limited (ASX: NST) is a dynamic and expanding Australian gold producer with a strong emphasis on high-grade, low-cost mines with robust margins and a forecast FY17 production of 485,000-515,000oz per annum. The Company operates three concentrated production centres in Western Australia: Jundee, Kalgoorlie (including Kundana [EKJV – Northern Star 51%] and Kanowna Belle Gold Mines) and Paulsens. Northern Star also holds a 25% interest in the Central Tanami Project in the Northern Territory and a 100% interest in the contiguous Western Tanami Project in Western Australia, with work currently progressing to bring this fourth concentrated centre into production. The Company has a strong exploration focus to extend mine life at all operations and create a pipeline of future projects.

The Opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a dynamic Project Exploration Geologist to drive exploration programs at our Central Tanami project. This is a challenging and exciting role which will allow you to utilise your strong technical and management skills whilst building relationships within all levels of the business.
The role reports to the Senior Exploration Geologist with the primary objective of executing a safe, effective and efficient exploration program to discover new mineral resources within the district.
This is a FIFO role from Perth, Western Australia on a 16/12 roster.
Desired Experience & Competencies
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the exploration/mining industry.
- Sound knowledge of mapping, structural geology, geochemistry, drilling and sampling techniques.
- Effective team skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, GIS, 3D mining packages essential
- Ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all geological and environmental activities.
- Flexibility to recognise and implement to improved procedures and practices.
- Understanding of relevant sections of the Western Australian Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
- Understanding of tenement management and relevant Western Australian legislation.
- St Johns Senior First Aid certificate.
Qualifications Required
- Tertiary qualifications in geoscience from a recognised institution.
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
- Preferably a member of an accredited professional organisation (e.g. AusIMM, AIG)
