UGL are looking for experienced SMP Supervisors to join our Iron Ore team to overseashutdown and maintenance projects in the Pilbara across a number of sites.  Due to number of ongoing shutdowns and projects we’re looking for immediately available SMP Supervisors. 

 

Reporting to the Project Superintendent, the SMP Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of Leading Hands, labour and equipment on a construction project or maintenance contract to ensure completion of the work in a safe, cost effective and timely manner.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Be familiar with safety, quality and construction or maintenance procedures and requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance of the Safety, Health and Environment Plan.
  • Plan and coordinate resources and equipment for the Project/Contract to conduct the work in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.
  • Effectively manage work to a given schedule and monitor / track progress. 
  • Effective communicate and manage change to the work scope as per the project requirements.
  • Manage and construct work as per the work packs provided from the engineering team.
  • Brief and coordinate Leading Hands and labour.
  • Attend daily and weekly meetings as set by the superintendent.
  • Daily diaries to be completed at the end of every shift.
  • Ensure adequate hand-over notes are completed and thoroughly conveyed to your responsible person prior to leaving for R&R.
  • Ensure all Leading Hands and labour are suitably trained and possess the necessary skills to undertake their designated OS&H responsibilities by providing appropriate safety training to all personnel.
  • Resolve day to day on site industrial relations problems and refer any industrial relations problems to the Superintendent.
  • Manage Safety, Health and environmental issues on site by monitoring the situation and providing leadership on issues.
  • Ensure that the standard of workmanship is compliant with the specifications and that specified inspections and tests are conducted and records maintained to substantiate conformance. i.e. ITP’s and FICs at a minimum.

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant Trade Certificate
  • Minimum 5 years experience in similar position
  • Mining, oil and gas and or refinery experience / exposure – beneficial if you have current Rio and/or FMG inductions 
  • Have the ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously within a fast-paced environment

This is a FIFO opportunity on a casual contract and the roster will vary based on operational requirements (likely to be 2:1) from Western Australia and offers an attractive hourly rate
