Big job, big scope, big opportunities

Reporting to the VP Smelting Technology in Switzerland, the mandate for your expert role is to support the Nyrstar Zinc Smelters in the technical optimization of the operational initiatives whilst training/coaching the Production and Technology & CI managers in Smelters and participating in the development of new technological solutions.

Your KPI for the role: Financial CI impact generated through improvements of in areas of your expertise.

Achieving the above will involve the following:

Develop technical limit methodology (TL) for production critical KPI’s, involving technical experts and managers at the sites. Review the site-specific values of the TL.

• Perform internal and external benchmarks for KPI’s and best practices among sites.
• Follow up on the ongoing technical performance of sites, supporting local Technical teams with proposals for improvement and providing feedback to sites.
• Participate in technical smelting projects in an expert role.
• Participate in capital projects (mainly Concept and Feasibility phase).
• Advise and support the Commercial team on technical aspects.
• Contact with external technology centers.

ESSENTIAL for this role:

• Bachelor  in metallurgical/chemical engineering
• 5 years of technical/operational experience in zinc industry or 10 years experience in the metallurgical process industry

Desirable for this role:

• Master in Metallurgical/Chemical engineering or chemistry
• Knowledge of French and/or Dutch
