We know that the way our machines are used and maintained at a mine site significantly affects the ultimate value customers get through purchasing them. To this end, KMC has entered a partnership with one of our major customers to drive continual improvement of the overall cost and performance of KMC products at their sites.
The role is critical to our business and will suit people wanting to develop their career and broaden their exposure to multi-disciplined problem solving and to all levels of the KMC business. Additionally, due to the nature of this role, it is an excellent opportunity to influence the KMC business as a whole (design, manufacturing, sales and services).
This position will be based at our customer’s offices in Perth with regular travel to customer sites in the Pilbara. Working alongside our customer (both corporately and at site), you will review how the mine planning, operational and maintenance practices mesh to drive peak performance. Additionally, you will highlight any immediate areas for improvement for the sites to consider under these work streams.
As a seasoned mine planner/production professional, you will be partnered with a like-minded maintenance professional and together will work as a team to improve the overall performance of our equipment. You will need to identify the gaps in performance, prioritise the improvement initiatives to close the gaps, determine the root cause/s for the gaps, lead or facilitate the improvement projects and perform regular progress checks with both our customer and KMC.
Experience & skills required for this role:
- Engineering (BEng) – Mining or Civil, 10 years’ experience in mine planning and/or production roles, or
- Demonstrated analytical skills in a related field, with 10years’ experience in mining (production roles).
- Relationship development – builds rapport quickly and comfortable working with diverse groups
- Frontline management qualification – Certificate (Desirable)
- Six Sigma/LEAN experience (preferably Black Belt level)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills - proficient in MS Office, SalesForce.com, Project Management tools, basic internet protocols, and presentation tools.
- Demonstrated action and implementation skills, oriented with a strong desire to see progress and complete tasks, driving others towards success
- Strategic influencing skills
