About the role

We are looking for a Production Metallurgist to provide key technical support and output in line with the operational needs of the business unit, as well as the greater Rio Tinto group. You will also be involved in identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities in consultation with your Team Leader.

This role is a great opportunity a highly motivated individual. Reporting to the Superintendent Plant Operations Technical, you will be:

  • Providing technical guidance on Grinding/Crushing operation and problem solving skills
  • Recording and reporting of daily and monthly metallurgical accounting
  • Ensuring Process Plant production and quality targets are met and or exceeded
  • Conducting project work to improve and optimise Process Plant performance, including detailed laboratory test work and analysis
  • Ensuring sufficient inventories of all reagents and Process Plant consumables are available on site and that regular stock takes are performed
  • Providing technical guidance, support and training to Processing and Maintenance employees
  • Providing technical guidance on metallurgical and operational matters as required

 

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Metallurgical Engineering, Minerals Processing Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
  • A C Class Drivers Licence
  • Metallurgical experience
  • Strong problem solving ability incorporating troubleshooting of technical and complex issues
  • Relevant experience in a mineral processing plant

Rio Tinto offers a competitive salary within the range of $100,000- $105,000 base plus superannuation, allowances and benefits
