As our next Surveyor reporting to the Coal Reconciliation Manager, you will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.

The role is based at the Lake Vermont operations situated approximately 14km north of Dysart. The primary purpose is to work with the existing members of the Survey team to ensure mine operations have the required field information to comply to design requirements and provide accurate and efficient surveys for future design, reporting and reconciliations.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Ensure all relevant characteristics and dimensions of mine site terrain are calculated and documented.
  • Conduct regular stockpile surveys to monitor and reconcile the amount of mined coal and available coal.
  • Survey drill preparation limits, drill areas, ramps and roads with pegs for various operations including grade control
  • Provide misfire and other pick-ups and set outs when required.
  • Monitor topsoil stockpiles and provide volumes for topsoil available for rehabilitation in future.
  • Provide accurate and efficient surveys of waste material moved to allow for calculation of waste volumes within categories (pre-strip, overburden, mid-burden, rehandle etc).
  • Provide survey monitoring to assist in the management of the waste material dumps.
  • Provide accurate and efficient surveys of coal seam roof and floors to allow for accurate recording of mined coal, overall progress of coal mined and remaining reserves.
  • Assist in monitoring high wall stability and maintain records of high wall information as per the Geotechnical Principal Hazard Management Plan (PHMP).
  • Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.
  • Provide accurate and efficient calculated survey information for End of Month (EOM) reporting processes.
  • Work with the Survey team to manage the survey data to a level that meets the requirements of the contract and Client.

What skills and experience do you need?

  • Relevant tertiary level qualification in Surveying.
  • Hold or able to obtain as a minimum relevant Coal Mining Industry Competencies such as RIIRIS301A, RIICOM301B and RIIOHS301A.
  • Have sufficient experience in an open cut mine surveying environment, preferably coal.
  • Proficiency in Maptek software packages Vulcan and I-Site Studio, and a good working knowledge in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of the relevant state mining and surveying legislation and obligations under these Acts and associated Regulations.
  • Statutory registration with open-cut endorsement held with the Survey Board in Queensland is highly desirable.

  • Flights from Brisbane to site
