This position is based in Adelaide operating 5/2 roster with site travel to Olympic Dam as required.

 

As a Telecom Solution Architect you will be involved in the preparation of high level studies and provide technical expertise surroundings wireless infrastructure to the project team, you will be a pioneer and a direct contributor to BHP's world class underground communication's project.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Adhere to relevant operational requirements such as permits to work, training, site supervision, field leadership and risk assessments.                     
  • Work with Control Systems and Site Responsible staff on site access and their processes.
  • Compliance with the requirements of mines safety acts and/or regulations in accordance with the relevant country, state, region or county.
  • Ensure solution options are explored, identified and proposed that align to Technology’s Strategy and Design principles
  • Ensure full transparency on technical, functional and system documentation and process maps against business / SME requirements.
  • Ensure all conducted work is in alignment with cybersecurity and infrastructure and operations / strategic design standards as relevant.
  • Providing end state design guidance that complies with architecture, best practice innovative approaches and utilises platforms.
  • An understanding of business process mapping, constraints and standard BA techniques to interpret technical and business expectations
  • Provide support to other project Leads and teams within BHP

 

About You:

  • Technical degree (STEM) Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
  • Pursuing postgraduate qualifications and or specific technology training desirable.
  • 5-7 years in Solution architecture roles for program studies, project delivery; latest Industry experience, required, in mining, oil & gas, utilities or manufacturing.
  • Business domain Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and the PRINCE2 Project Management Methodology would be to your advantage;
  • A good understanding of ISA95, ISA88 and other relevant standard essential.
  • A solid understanding of the following areas :
  • LTE / WIFI (802.11) , Digital Radio (Tetra, P25, DMR) and other wireless communications technologies including wideband microwave transmission systems in P2P & P2MP topologies and their application in remote areas is essential.
  • CAT5e, 6a, 7 (802.3) and co-axial (Leaky feeder) copper wired communications technologies and their application in remote areas is essential.
  • Fibre optics and other cabling and transmission technologies such as DWDM,OTN, SDH, Packet and their application in remote areas is essential.
  • Application porting across wireless communications
  • IP Networks including equipment selection, scoping, design, integration and migration relating to IETF and IEEE based protocols
  • Virtual IP network and server infrastructure architectures, cloud and hybrid computer, storage  platforms
  • Integrated high availability and high security network architectures
  • Linux administration using RHEL, Debian variants
  • Mobile plant and mine technology solutions, and their application in remote areas is essential
  • Fixed plant technology solutions, including minerals processing and mine ventilation, and their application in remote areas is essential
  • Autonomous equipment and operations, in mining or other industries
  • Experience in studies, business planning or strategic roles
