IMO's client, a leading nickel sulphide producer, is seeking a contract Plant Metallurgist to join their team.

As the Plant Metallurgist you will be required to monitor and manage the process plant and all associated activities.

Key duties will include, but not be limited to;

  • Ensuring the metallurgical performance of the concentrator is always maintained at its optimum level and that concentrate produced meets with agreed customer specifications.
  • Striving for continual improvement in metallurgical efficiency and plant operations
  • Initiate and conduct test work and modifications as required
  • Monitoring, controlling and optimizing reagent additions to achieve the greatest economic benefit
  • Overseeing aspects of the metallurgical accounting including daily reporting and end of month metallurgical balances
  • Training production personnel to obtain the optimum performance of the plant
  • Promoting, encouraging and supporting the establishment and maintenance of a safe working environment
  • Other general plant metallurgist duties

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Relevant background and tertiary qualifications; 4+ years in a similar role
  • Previous Nickel Sulphide flotation experience
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills
  • Cost management and budgeting skills
  • Exceptional safety values
  • Positive can do attitude
  • Current WA class C drivers licence

The role is expected to last for approximately 3 months with a possible extension for the right person and is offered on an 8:6 roster.
