Weir Minerals Australia Ltd, a member of the Weir Group PLC, is the market leader in the design, manufacture and supply of slurry pumps and allied minerals processing equipment to the mining industry, both within Australia and throughout the world.

We are seeking suitably qualified applicants for the role of “Service Centre Supervisor - Mechanical” to actively participate in and provide supervision of daily activities both within the Whyalla Service Centre and externally on site at the client’s facility.  Prior experience working with Mining equipment including pumps is desirable as well as the following attributes;

  • Continuously developing and managing a strong health, safety and environmental culture
  • Continuously drive a positive lean culture
  • Quotations and technical reports for all in-house and on-site work
  • Working closely with workshop personnel to ensure all areas are kept to the required high standard of cleanliness (5S) and all consumable levels are available as required.
  • Staff supervision ensuring that all service work is of the highest standard, delivered on time and achievement of expected profit margins
  • Technically astute & solutions orientated
  • Enthusiastic, with a ‘can-do’ approach

Skills required for the position include:

  • Engineering and/or Mechanical Trade Qualifications Fitting, Machining or Plant Mechanic
  • Previous Supervisory experience
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication skills
  • High risk license for Fork Truck and Dogging is desirable
  • Current driver’s license
  • Exposure and understanding in working in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Computer literate, SAP experience desirable
