Our client is a major independent operations and asset services provider to the power generation market in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.
We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior HSEQ Advisor to lead the health, safety, environment and quality function and drive change on the Bayswater and Liddell coal-powered thermal stations.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Ensure that quality, health and safety systems are understood, site stakeholders are aware of the issues and opportunities for improvements whilst aiming to achieve the site/contract HSE business plan objectives and Key Performance Indicators
- Coach, mentor, facilitate and assist site stakeholders in all HSEQ matters, being technical, behavioural or leadership
- Provide an example to others in leadership and HSEQ by actively driving change and promoting right behaviours and practices
- Lead the development and implementation of the HSE Management Plan
- Ensure non-conformances or deficiencies in HSEQ systems or programs are reviewed and appropriate corrective actions are identified and scheduled
- Deliver all assigned HSEQ accountabilities, projects, deliverables to deadlines and to a high standard.
- Assist the implementation of a sustainable site culture and behavioural change
- Drive and assist line management in maintaining a positive HSEQ culture in the workplace
To be successful for this role you must satisfy the following selection criteria:
- Diploma of Occupational Health & Safety with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Power industry or similar heavy industry in an operational or maintenance environment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Formal training and proficiency in incident investigations and root causes analysis as well as Incident Management Systems experience (preferable)
- Formal training and ability to perform and develop risk assessments and analysis reports
- Proficiency in relevant HSE legislation, best practices and Australian standards
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety and health principles, practice and legislation
- Computer literacy (SAP, Microsoft suite of products etc)
- Effective communication and influencing skills at all levels
- Show great attitude, tenacity and enthusiasm
- Prioritising and organisational skills as well as self-sufficient and self-motivated
- Demonstrable knowledge and practical site implementation of OHS&E legislation and duty of care
- Ability to build/maintain working relationships based on respect and trust
- Conflict identification and resolution
