  A unique opportunity exists for a qualified QA/QC Inspector experienced in project and contract management to take a hands on role in the further development and coordination of company's QA/QC strategies and procedures and to be involved at the individual projects  and site level.

  The position reports to the QLD Operations Manager and will focus on continual improvement in organisational behaviour with respect to health, safety and quality and the development of practices in line with company policies and client requirements. To achieve these outcomes the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to positively influence all levels of the organisation.

  The role is primarily responsible for projects run out of the Mackay operations but will also have an audit responsibility with respect operations based in other states and will be involved in the planning and implementation of companywide initiatives and strategies.

  This is an important role in an organisation that deals extensively with major mining companies, large engineering firms, government (local, state and federal) and high profile projects in many regions of Australia.

   

  Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Developing and Maintaining QA KPI's each year.
• Preparing QA components of each tender prior to submission.
• Preparing QA requirements for each job pack once work won.
• Supporting Project Managers and Supervisors in their understanding and management of QA issues including legislation, investigations, corrective action and prevention.
• Providing Quality Assurance advice and support to Work Supervisors and work groups, and ensuring they are informed of all project QA requirements.
• Assisting in developing Quality Management Plans (QMP) and Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and conducting field audits to ensure compliance against both
• Developing and implementing QA related training programs.
• Maintaining training registers and research and recommend appropriate training and development programs for work crews and supervisors.
• Leading initiatives to achieve target safety performance.
• Updating of QA Statistics for Reporting on QA to the board of directors including risk management plans and actions.
• Conducting practice and procedure audits on projects.

   

  Key experiences and characteristics of the successful person are likely to include:

• Previous experience and accountability for QA in a contracting and project management environment.
• Field Experience in Blasting and Protective Coating (NACE 1 and 2 qualifications would be a distinct advantage).
• A proven ability to develop good working relations with other disciplines, both internally and externally.
• Experience in environmental management and control.
• A capability for fostering employee involvement and managing organisational change.
• A flexible approach to work that enables you to cope with priority changes and working away, sometimes in remote areas.
• Well developed computer skills (word, excel, Microsoft office).

  A pre-employment medical (including Drug & Alcohol test) are further requirements of this position.
