The Role
Origin's Exploration and New Ventures business has an exciting opportunity for a senior leader with industry or regulatory experience in the petroleum & gas, mining or heavy industry sectors.
The role involves leading a team to secure petroleum tenures, co-development agreements, project approvals, environmental approvals and offsets, and native title and cultural heritage agreements to enable our ongoing CSG exploration and production activities.
As the Strategic Approvals Manager, you will:
· Lead the Strategic Approvals Team to identify, develop and implement the strategic objectives for the portfolio, with a focus on reducing the timeframes to secure access for exploration and production activities
· Maintain, improve and assure that there is a robust and reliable process to gain access (approvals and agreements) for exploration and production activities
· Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including regulators, Traditional Owners, other CSG operators, coal companies, industry groups, JV partners and other service providers to support portfolio objectives and outcomes
· Negotiate, manage and implement Native Title and Cultural Heritage agreements (including undertaking cultural heritage surveys)
· Manage and maximise the value of a significant portfolio of agricultural land in South-west Queensland.
Is This You?
You know what approvals and agreements are required to explore and produce for gas in Queensland, and you know how to get them! You've proven that capability either working for industry, or for a natural resource or environmental regulator. There are many pathways to this role, but ideally you are degree qualified in a relevant discipline (such as law, business, engineering or science).
You instinctively understand where business value lies (relative to a role of this nature), and have genuine expertise in major project approvals, tenures, environmental approvals and/ or land access. You are comfortable navigating complexity and making decisions.
You are a senior leader, with proven internal influence. You've got a history of developing productive relationships with external stakeholders. You are comfortable enaging with your peers, team, senior leaders, the Board, Traditional Owners, regulators and other industry players.
Ideally, you will have some understanding of the resource sector more broadly, including gas exploration and production, typical joint venture and commercial arrangements, or technical aspects of geology and petroleum engineering.
