The Company

A privately Australian owned family company, has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, motivated and disciplined Operations Manager who possesses the necessary skills and ability to improve the performance and profitability of our business.

The company specialises in quarry operations, resource recycling, landfills and transport and logistics with operations across NSW and in Victoria. The company has been established for over 50 years and is going through a phase of expansion.

Position Overview:
This newly created position will be responsible for the efficient production of natural & recycled sand, aggregates and soils, and asset utilisation across the business. This includes profitable operation of our quarries and recycling facilities whilst ensuring safety and quality. As an experienced Operations Manager you will be able to draw the link between all areas of operations from planning, plant utilisation, production (load & haul, crushing, screening, washing, etc) and maintenance.
Reporting directly to the General Manager you will provide input into the annual strategy and you will be working closely with senior managers, site managers and clients.

The Operation Manager's key responsibilities are:

• Develop and implement production plans to meet the requirements of the business at all locations by utilising existing plant, equipment and resources
• Develop and implement operational improvements to increase productivity, quality and reduce costs
• Develop and implement activity based costing on key components
• Monitor and report progress against key operational targets
• Ensure our sites operate in full compliance with all relevant legislations, regulations and company policies and procedures
• Achieve budgeted production costs and production KPIs
• Contribute to weekly and monthly reporting requirements
• Display effective leadership behaviours to ensure a highly motivated team

To be considered for this role you will require:

• Proven experience in a similar role within a Quarrying/Mining or Resource Recovery environment managing crushing, screening and processing facilities across multiple sites is essential
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplined environment to deliver productivity and cost improvements
• Working knowledge of Safety Management System, relevant WHS legislation and regulation
• Demonstrated experience leading, training and coaching
• Be reliable, motivated and be able to work under pressure with changing priorities
• Proficient computer skills
• Experience with Lean Project Management would be an advantage
• Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency or Diploma in extractive industries or similar would be an advantage
