Reporting to the Manager, Environment Analysis and Improvement, an exciting new opportunity, Specialist Environment Analysis & Improvement, has arisen as a 2 year fixed term contract. You will be responsible for supporting the Principal in delivering deep environmental functional expertise for Minerals Australia to enable the successful delivery of environmental approvals and ongoing improvement of environmental performance.  

Your Key Deliverables include:

  • Assist with the development of Environmental Approval Strategies and Approvals Plans to support project study teams;
  • Undertake the delivery of environmental studies for the attainment of environmental approvals for existing and future operations within Federal, Queensland and local government jurisdictions;
  • Analyze and provide organizational recommendations to mitigate environment risk, whether cumulative or asset specific;  
  • Provide support with maintaining the environment management system;
  • Conduct periodic business reviews of compliance with environment controls for Business executive leadership;
  • Evaluate business performance metrics; and
  • Provide Business-wide Environmental expertise to manage Environmental risks and compliance with environmental legal obligations.


Utilizing your environmental experience and skills you will demonstrate:

  • Application of Federal, Queensland and Local Government environmental legislation, approval processes, policies and guidelines;
  • Proven ability to support change initiatives with competing priorities;
  • Understanding of environmental risks in the context of both operating and project environments;
  • Project management and data analysis experience;
  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent; and
  • A strong understanding or natural resource (e.g. water, energy) sustainability.


Highly Valued Experience

  • On-site environmental management (including implementation of approvals) experience at Queensland mines sites, in particular Bowen Basin coal mines.
  • Delivery of environmental approvals for large coal mining projects in Queensland.
