The Opportunity

CITIC Pacific Mining is currently looking for an Occupational Hygiene Advisor to work on a 9/5 roster FIFO from Perth, on a permanent full time basis. As a member of a small team you will have wide range of responsibilities and duties in a diverse and technically challenging work environment.

Reporting to the Superintendent Health and Safety the Occupational Hygiene Advisor works within a small team of peers who are responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the site’s risk based exposure monitoring program. The role includes fulfilling duties as an occupational hygiene technician, and the statutory requirements of the Ventilation Officer and or Noise Officer, as well as managing and maintaining the site based laboratory. You will be required to access all areas of the project including an open pit mine, processing plant, port land and marine areas and other heavy industrial work places.

You will also be accountable for quality assurance systems and undertake daily fibre and dust analysis and reports. As a subject matter expert you will be required to provide technical support and advice to internal and external stakeholders.

You will be tertiary qualified in Occupational Hygiene and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the mining, heavy industry, refineries or Occupational Hygiene consulting, together with qualifications as a Ventilation Officer and a Noise Officer. The following skills/experience are required but are not limited to:

• A thorough understanding of Mining Industry and Occupational Hygiene best practice, relevant legislative obligations, standards, guidelines and codes
• Strong organisational skills with an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Excellent problem solving and accurate report writing capability
• Solid Auditing experience 
• Proven expertise and experience in Occupation Hygiene laboratory systems
• Previous experience in a NATA accredited laboratory environment
• NATA signatory for asbestos fibre counting
• Ability to conduct noise surveys and noise dosimetry
• A current manual class driver’s licence is mandatory
• Ability to gain an MSIC identification
