Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia's premier gold mines. This large-scale underground operation employs more than 500 people and produces approximately 300,000 ounces of gold per annum. Operating on an attractive 8/6 fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.
We are now seeking a Mine Surveyor to join our Underground Mining team based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine.
Accountable to the Senior Surveyor and working with a team of surveyors you will be expected to manage and perform surveying activities to enable the efficient and safe achievement of targeted mine production. This role is FIFO 8/6 from Perth.
The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:
- Be an active safety leader in line with the companies values, policies and procedures
- Performing mainly underground surveying activities necessary for the efficient and safe achievement of targeted mine production of underground development, production, drilling and surface infrastructure projects
- Perform the collection and processing of survey data and production of plans, reports and other forms of spatial information, including systems to ensure integrity and continued availability of data
- Perform surveying activities to monitor open pit wall stability
- Assist in the implementation of appropriate systems and standards to ensure a continuous and cost effective provision of services.
- Maintenance of survey and ancillary equipment.
- Assist with the preparation of statutory mine plans and reporting requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A formal qualification in Surveying is required
- The possession of a grade 1 Mine Surveyors Certificate (WA) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum experience of 2 years in the operation of underground mines sufficient to have qualified as above
- Hands on experience with Surpac mining software is essential
- Previous experience with software packages Global mapper, GeoMos monitoring and Microsoft Office software is preferred
- Previous experience in mine surveying using Leica instruments and Trimble GPS is also essential
- Very good practical, planning and prioritising skills combined with the ability to build on the experience gained
- Innovative, have a strong desire to succeed with a demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.
- Physically capable of performing tasks involving a considerable amount of lifting and manual handling
