WEARX is positioned to supply the most cost effective unbiased solution to areas of wear, from express product manufacture in any material, any shape, anytime, anywhere right through to full asset project improvement.

With the recent acquisition of WEARX by Metso, there is a requirement to expand the capacity of the Hexham Rubber Workshop, as such we are seeking experienced Rubber Liners.

You will be required to undertake the efficient, effective and safe rubber lining of tanks, valves, pipes and similar vessels. There is the opportunity to also participate in Site Service work.

To be considered you must have:

Key responsibilities / duties:

  • Report safety and environmental incidents and near misses
  • Treat plant and equipment with care
  • Active participation in safety audits and input for safety improvements
  • Identify potential hazards and implement controls to eliminate accidents and injuries
  • Keep records of hours worked
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Complete Planning and Pre-Start Checks prior to beginning rubber lining.
  • Verify conformance of work to specification during construction and following completion
  • Undertake risk assessments and implement controls to eliminate the risks of accidents and injuries
  • Scope work to determine materials required, product or job instructions and specifications.
  • Use materials in accordance with safety data sheets and manufacturers recommendations.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools and machinery in accordance with appropriate safety requirements
  • Mark out and cut rubber
  • Maintain consistent operation of output.
  • Monitor curing time in autoclave
  • Perform visual inspection and testing of product and repair defects
  • Verify conformance of work to specification during construction and following completion
  • Report faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials or products and notify workshop supervisor
  • Plan work to meet customer delivery expectation
  • Complete Quality assurance documentation as required by WEARX and Customer
  • Attend meetings and provide input at appropriate

The successful applicant will have:

  • Experience in rubber lining industrial plant
  • Experience in the application of vulcanised and unvalcanised rubber
  • Good knowledge of surface preparation of rubber and metal materials
  • Valid drivers licence and current nationally accredited Confined Spaces and Working at Heights tickets (desirable)
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy
  • High attention to detail
  • Willingness to be flexible in the role
  • Ability to take direction and follow instructions
