Baxter & Black is an artisan shoe repairer located in the heart of Newtown. The store was opened in August 2017 by husband and wife team, Nathan Baxter and Rachel Black. Since then the team has grown and so has the demand.
Baxter & Black hire casual staff to ensure flexibility of hours, with most staff working a minimum of 40 hours per week. Weekly work hours and start and finish times are negotiable.
The successful candidate(s) will be performing:
- shoe repairs
- key-cutting
- minor watch repairs
- engraving
- customer service
The successful candidate will be joining a team of three full-time cobblers and trainee cobblers and one part-time shoemaker. Nathan Baxter works on the specialty repairs and oversees all standard repair work. The new candidate(s) will be efficient (while still paying attention to detail) in order to reduce the turnaround time for repairs.
Average Baxter & Black clientele ranges from locals to fly-in/fly-out clients from Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.

The successful candidate will:
- have 3 years shoe repair, shoe making or leather work experience
- be able to work within a team and take instruction
- have an open mind to appreciate our diverse range of clientele
- have a huge passion for the shoe-making/leather industry
