The role of the Merchandise Planner is to work closely with the Planning Manager to manage all elements of the planning function across the International business, including product mix analysis, replenishment, stock management by SKU-level, end-of-season stock rotations, and all promotional activities. 

Job tasks and responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Merchandise Planner - International Brands will involve:

• Planning key accounts to ensure orders and stock-levels are in-line with the OTB, closing stock targets and KPI's
• Attend range meetings with the Account Manager and Designer to review current and past sales analysis, range and brand-mix analysis, and to identify opportunities to increase sales based on best and worst analysis
• Achieve and maintain target margin through effective forecasting, ensuring this is not negatively impacted by promotional activity 
• Effectively managing SKU life cycle
• Quarterly re-forecasting sales for each account, replanning OTB budget accordingly
• Manage and maintain critical path for each account by ensuring orders are placed in time to achieve delivery expectations 
• Ensure all promotional activity or featured products are properly planned in-line with sales forecasted to lift, and margin
• Raise and allocate weekly orders 
• Management and training of a Merchandise Assistant 
• Regular support and communication with the Account Manager and Designer regarding new product, and ways to maximise sales
• Reporting into the General Manager, provide regular communications on Account performance, including sales, margin, promotions, opportunities and risks to the account i.e. delivery delays. 

Skills and experience

To be successful for the Merchandise Planner position, the successful applicant will possess the following key skills and experience:

• Currently working as a Planner, or at Junior-Planner level ready for the next step
• Working in a multi-channel environment 
• Exposure working with brands and/or private-label products, ideally international retail 
• Management of a direct report 
• Advanced-level Excel skills as well as strong IT-systems experience
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent time-management skills 
• Proven attention-to-detail 
• Experience working in a wholesale environment, managing accounts is advantageous
