About the role
The Buyer's Assistant reports to the Buyer; this position is challenging and fast paced, with a focus on providing support to the daily management of product categories.
You will assist the Buyer in raising orders, data entry and maintenance, managing the samples, liaising with the supply chain to ensure timely delivery of products.
The Buying Team is responsible for maximising department sales, buying income and the market share through the development and purchase or of merchandise within approved parameters
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting Marketing and Advertising offers / catalogues / tickets.
- Providing analytical and administration support to the Buyer.
- Communicate with stores, suppliers and the supply chain.
- Raise timely purchase orders.
- Managing stock orders and strong follow-ups to maintain the stock level in stores.
- Efficient management of the stock and sample stock.
- Analysing and managing data using Microsoft Excel and SAP.
- Data management for upcoming promotional activities.
- Assist in the preparation or development of new products.
- Content management for catalogues.
- Develop category and industry knowledge.
You have/are:
- Previous retail experience in a 'big box' environment.
- Good retail operations know-how.
- Willingness to travel domestically and visit stores.
- Proficiency in computer skills especially Microsoft Office – Excel (required).
- Excellent organisational, multi-tasking and time management skills.
- Robust admin skills with attention to the details.
- High level of communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain focused and productive under pressure.
- Adaptive to changing circumstances.
- A positive 'do what it takes' attitude.
