An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Category Buyer to join our team. You are a respected & highly regarded professional of your craft who will be responsible for the strategic sourcing & buying processed of Non-Food products & services. Working with both local and international suppliers, you will be required to monitor and report domestic and global market trends, negotiate and advise on price increases and the impact, including mitigation opportunities to offset price movements.

Reporting into the portfolio Category Manager, you are a passionate & supportive team player who thrives in a process driven environment, but also knows how to steer through times of uncertainty & the ‘grey’. This role requires an autonomous self-starter who can maintain and develop successful relationships with numerous stakeholders geographically dispersed.

A Day in the Life

• Support the Category Manager in building sourcing strategies that enable Compass to optimise its buying power across all markets
• Build and support a portfolio of categories, specifically Non-Food products and/or services
• Conduct industry analysis supporting business stakeholders with a commercial understanding of the market place
• Assist Category Manager in the provision of proactive insights with a view to development of long term potential sourcing strategies
• Execute best sourcing procurement process
• Support the delivery of a range of products/services maximising business profitability and service needs considering both lifecycle and associated costs
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the relationship between all pricing levels versus market to make business pricing recommendations

The Person

• Tertiary education is highly desirable, with a Procurement & Supply Chain focus: CIPS, IFPSM or AAPCM qualification an added advantage
• Knowledge and understanding of key non-food categories such as: Transport & Logistics, Distribution, Fleet, Subcontracting, Outsourcing (FM & Soft Services), Textiles are desirable, but not mandatory
• Excellent organisational skills
• Intermediate/excellent level of MS Office including advanced excel Skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills – demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a positive relationship with business stakeholders
• Procurement knowledge gained through category assistant or buying experience
