The Salvation Army (TSA) seeks an experienced, well rounded retail professional in the position of Regional Manager for Salvos Stores in both -
Victoria/Tasmania - based in Melbourne, and
Queensland/New South Wales/ACT - based in Sydney or Brisbane
These highly rewarding but challenging roles are part of the executive leadership team and report directly to the National Director/CEO - Salvos Stores.
The role
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the Regional Manager provides strategic leadership and direction for the retail footprint of Salvos Stores - in order to maximise sales, profitability (surplus), team engagement and The Salvation Army's presence in the community. Each role has responsibility for an annual sales budget of $55m+ across 100+ stores and employs a team of over 3,000 staff and volunteers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your role as Regional Manager will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Executive leadership - actively participate in all ELT functions
- Community engagement - collaborate with the broader Salvation Army network and local communities to achieve TSA's Mission in Australia
- Strategic planning - collaborate with National Director and ELT in setting Salvos Stores strategic plan
- Drive sales - develop and monitor budgets for growth
- Retail merchandising - develop and implement store standards and visual merchandising strategies in conjunction with the Marketing and Product team
- Donation and stock management - develop donation strategies and optimize the flow of donated and purchased inventory throughout the network in collaboration with warehousing and logistics
- Expense management - monitor financial and non-financial resources, in order to generate a sustainable profit (surplus) for Salvation Army programs
- Staff and volunteer management - monitor and manage the performance of direct reports and provide direction and support to people managers - including leading a team of professional Area Managers
- Staff and volunteer development - develop, implement and review recruitment, training and succession planning initiatives in collaboration with HR
- Work health and safety - manage and review WHS performance within all areas of responsibility
- Property portfolio development - collaborate with the Property team to establish new sites, relocations and redevelopment
- Manage partnerships and suppliers - oversee major relationships for business improvement
- Waste management - develop and implement solutions for various waste and recycling streams
You
As the successful applicant you will have the following attributes:
- Successful track record in medium - large, multi-site, retail environment
- Demonstrated passion in making a difference to Australians experiencing Hardship & Injustice
- Qualifications/ongoing professional development in leadership/management/business
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a geographically diverse team
- Minimum 10yrs people management experience
- Minimum 5yrs experience at an executive leadership level
