We are currently looking for a highly motivated, passionate retail leader to become a Deli Manager at our Home Hill store. You will be responsible for the overall performance & operations of the deli department and bakery, ensuring that maximum sales, profit and customer satisfaction are achieved through effective merchandising, pricing and inventory control. Your leadership skills will be continuously utilised as you perform your role in this hands-on environment. You will be required to work a rotational roster which will include nights, weekends and public holidays.

Essential Criteria

  1. High level of personal integrity and accountability for performance
  2. Demonstrate a high level of customer service
  3. Previous management experience and skills
    1. Ability to lead and manage a medium sized team (previous management experience of small teams essential)
    2. Experience with conflict management within a workplace
    3. Can demonstrate ability to follow company policies and procedures (inc. disciplinary action)
    4. Experience in training and coaching staff in various work areas and topics
  4. Experience within fresh food, including demonstrable expertise in stock control, presentation, stock rotation, shrinkage/wastage, and presentation
  5. Good understanding of OH&S and food safety requirements
  6. Experience in assisting to increase sales and GP beyond targets
  7. Able to communicate clearly and negotiate with people from different backgrounds and roles (such as suppliers, customers, or staff)
  8. Basic level of computer skills
  9. Good literacy and numeracy skills (for example: ability to calculate hours, conduct stocktakes, comprehend company policies, fill in forms)

Preferred Criteria

  1. Previous delicatessen experience strongly preferred
  2. Preferred bakery experience
  3. Retail industry experience
  4. Current Senior First Aid certificate with current CPR component
  5. Food Safety Supervisor certificate
  6. Certificate III in retail (or above)
  7. Experience with wage budgets and rostering staff
