Sephora Australia opened its first store in December 2014, it now operates 14 stores with 2 flagships in Pitt Street Sydney and Melbourne. Sephora Australia also manages online sales for both Australia and New Zealand. Both channels plan for fast growth in 2018 and 2019.

Sephora Australia is looking to recruit a Category Manager to reinforce its capabilities and establish Sephora as a Best in Class retailer via its merchant initiatives. This is an initial 12 month contract, based in our Sydney Head Office with potential to extend. The role reports to the Head of Category and will partner strategically with the local and regional leadership team on developing and executing transformative consumer experiences in both digital and traditional retail landscapes.  You will have accountability for product assortment and variable strategies across the brands categories. You will have the ability to utilise consumer and competitive intelligence to deliver product lines that achieve strategic brand equity, and assist to meet financial targets.  

What you will be doing:

Category Performance Tracking & Reporting

  1. Track omni-channel category performance (by channel, markets, segments, margin, productivity, brand conversion & stocks management) vs set KPIs
  2. Execution & implementation of programs per the category strategies as defined in budget and strat planning
  3. Monitoring & identification of new trends, new brands, merchandising programs and ad-hoc strategies to optimize category growth and performance 

Brand management: Market Specific Brands

  1. Trading terms negotiation and review
  2. Brand/Product Launch plans
  3. Animation Planning including securing key animation slots, negotiating for Checkout Sampling aligned with Animation Calendar, plannng animation thematics etc
  4. Monitoring and measuring assigned brands performance against category sales and profitability benchmark, including conducting half-yearly rationalization of brands and assortment
  5. Floorplan/planogram management to optimize floor space for new store openings, brand additions and renovations
  6. Work with supply chain to meet the company’s stockholding KPI

About you:

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Results Oriented
  • Independent and able to work in a fast paced environment
  • 3 years Account/Brand Management experience, ideally from the beauty/fashion industry
  • Bachelor Degree in Business/Marketing
  • Keen interest in the beauty industry with a flair for trends and style
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Bachelor Degree in Business/Marketing
