About the role



Our client, a local government, is currently seeking an experienced part-time Digital Content Adviser to join them for a 3 month assignment with an immediate start. You will need to be a good all-round digital content and communications specialist with excellent writing skills. Reporting directly into the Communications Manager, your key tasks and accountabilities will include:





Responsibilities and tasks:


  • Writing, compiling and editing editorial content and images as needed for the organisation’s intranet and online publications including but not limited to e-newletters, magazine, brochures, factsheets, information kits and guides
  • Developing and maintaining media relations and managing a mixture of proactive media releases and photo opportunities as well as reactive enquiries
  • Sourcing and producing content (including photos) for social media, front page of the council’s website and monthly e-newsletter
  • Pro-actively identifying digital/social media opportunities for the Council
  • Communications advice to staff for event planning, campaign planning, consultation and issues management





Experience and Skills:



In order to be considered for this role, you will have the following:


  • Tertiary degree in communications, public relations or journalism or related discipline
  • Demonstrable experience in local government and dealing with Councillors
  • Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills with the ability to adapt messages to suit different audiences and communications channels.
  • Experience in managing publications for print and online from content to production and distribution
  • Self motivated, enthusiastic and able to interact with all levels of staff and community groups
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Valid Victorian Drivers Licence - essential
