Transform Aid International is an agency of the Baptist Churches of Australia which focuses on ending poverty through development work and advocacy with Christian partners in Asia, Africa and the Pacific. The organisation has an established record of advocacy in the fashion and electronics industries with its Behind the Barcode campaign and its Ethical Guide to Fashion. It is now seeking to appoint an Advocacy Manager who will build on this foundation to highlight injustice and poverty among the world's most vulnerable.
Reporting to the Director Community Engagement, you will lead and inspire a small, motivated team. You will be responsible for:
- identifying new opportunities for advocacy and developing appropriate strategies to deliver these;
- engaging with churches to support them in undertaking advocacy action;
- working with other agencies and thinktanks on areas of common concern and interest; and,
- participating in high level lobbying with governments and corporates.
With exceptional communication skills and experience in lobbying and advocacy at a senior level, you will bring deep Christian commitment and sense of justice to this role. You will be a strong strategic thinker and be able to build strong relationships across churches, community organisations and corporates. You will have appropriate tertiary qualifications and the ability to articulate a biblical theology of development and advocacy.
