We are on the hunt for a dynamic and skilled person that has relevant experience as a Media Liaison Officer at the APS 6 level to fill this 6 month contract. You will come from a Journalist back ground, and you thrive in dealing with the media. A part of this role will also see you represent the department on the radio and in the media.
Reporting to the Senior Media Liaison Officer, you will be responsible for media liaison and public relations support to the agency undertaking complex work under limited direction, and providing specialist advice on media strategy as well as acting as a spokesperson for the agency.

Your key duties will include:
- Respond to and anticipate media requests
- Provide a 24-hour response service for media enquiries (according to an on‑call roster approximately seven days per month)
- Act as the spokesperson for media statements and interviews, including radio
- Develop and maintain relationships
- Identify and evaluate risks, provide tactical and strategic advice to the executive and
- subject matter experts on management of issues for both proactive and reactive media engagement
- Monitor and analyse media content relevant to the business.
- Other duties as requested
You will have relevant qualifications in a journalism, public relations or a communication discipline or equivalent experience. You will have experience working as a journalist and/or in a media-related position, advanced writing skills and experience in using social media tools and an understanding of their application in contemporary media engagement.
You will need to be an Australian Citizen to be considered as a baseline clearance may need to be obtained.
