Audiology Australia (AudA) is the peak professional association representing audiologists in Australia. Established in 1968, it has a current membership of over 2,700 audiologists. AudA's mission is to provide leadership in the science and practice of audiology through advocacy, education and networking. About the role
Audiology Australia has identified communications as a key pillar within our strategic plan. As the Communications Officer, you will have the important role of managing and contributing to the development of AudA's suite of communications, including digital and social media and member e-communications. You will also contribute to public campaigns, media relations and stakeholder engagement.
Reporting to the Marketing and Events Manager, this role includes (but not limited to):
- Developing, implementing and managing AudA's social media platforms, including updating and monitoring content
- Designing effective communications strategies and content approaches to best target key segments including members, government and the general public
- Producing communication materials in consultation with internal and external stakeholders such as AudA's e-communications (including e-newsletters and website content) and member conferences/events
- Working with our marketing communications agency to manage a range of PR activities
Key Selection Criteria
Required
- Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience working in a media/communications position focusing on both digital and traditional media
- Experience in developing and implementing communications plans for a range of initiatives across a range of online, social ad print media channels.
- Digital content creation and implementation experience
- Exceptional written communication skills - with extensive experience in copywriting and proofreading
- Understanding of how to engage and build relationships with journalists/media outlets as well as effectively monitor media, manage issues and identify proactive media opportunities
- Ability to quickly synthesise complex or technical information and produce effective communication to a range of audiences
- Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with stakeholders and work with them to inform and engage with relevant campaigns
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Desirable (not essential)
- Experience working for a not-for-profit, member-based association
- Experience in health and/or allied health care sector
