This is an exciting opportunity to work for the peak legal body representing Victorian lawyers. The Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) is a professional association with far reaching legal, community and political influence.

We are currently seeking an experienced and innovative Communications Officer to join our Public Affairs Department. The Communications Officer is responsible for ensuring all internal communications, media relations and marketing content (online and print) engages its intended internal and/or external audience while reflecting the quality of the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) brand.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Create copy for the LIV website, brochures, promotions, advertisements, direct mail pieces and other marketing collateral.
  • Ensure all copy complies with the LIV's policies and corporate identity for members, potential members and others seeking the services of legal practitioners.
  • Assist with daily media enquiries to be used in the media and LIV social media platforms.
  • Prepare news articles that can be published online and in the Law Institute Journal.
  • Work with leadership on the creation of "The Hot Spot", the LIV's internal staff e-newsletter, featuring key activities, achievements and our people.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven track record in delivering successful advertising, marketing or commercial content for use in print and digital contexts.
  • Experience in driving corporate social media initiatives and engagement.
  • Ability to work "on brand" with the right tone of voice.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to deliver highly technical messages succinctly and interestingly.
  • Ability to quickly develop knowledge of what's happening in the wider legal profession to help guide copy.
