The first Place Economy book was released in 2016 and is a resource that discusses best practice Placemaking from a round the world. We are now looking for a talented journalist for a 5-month contract to support the Place Bureau Chief in generating thought leadership and journalistic pieces for all channels under The Place Economy.
The day-to-day:
- Research, conduct original interviews and source images and write articles online and in print - as directed by Place Bureau Chief
- Work with Principal to produce thought pieces and case studies
- Contribute to (write/research/finesse) Hoyne essays emanating from all Hoyne studios
- Research and write stories for The Place Economy book and other publishing endeavours
- Assist with editing including adding fact and map boxes to all relevant pieces and adding captions to stories
- Assist designer with photographer credit section
- Assist designer with photo sourcing when required
- Work with the Principal and designer to lead the contents and design of the tool kit/resource which will be appended to the new volumes
What we’re looking for…
- 5 years journalistic experience
- News and magazine experience
- Proven language and grammar skills
- Autonomous working style with ability to manage own time
- Proven ability to conduct independent research
- Confidence in dealing with high level business professionals and academics
- Proven ability to conduct interviews
- Outstanding written skills
- High level of collaboration
- Ability to translate words and ideas of others into polished copy
- Ability to come up with original story ideas and identify leads and sources
- Experience dealing with and briefing photographers
- Proven experience working with designers advantageous
- Knowledge of the property industry advantageous
